The Gateway Academy

The Music Arts Project is a local community organisation that has a vision to make music inclusive to everyone, regardless of musical ability through school holiday Rock Schools, regular workshops, activities, performances and events.

The Gateway Academy enables young people aged between 7-18 to experience the thrill of being part of a band, building confidence, creating memories and positive experiences providing the perfect gateway to help fulfil dreams of becoming part of the music industry.

Dedicated to providing pathways for young people to be part of the music industry, the Academy provides:

  • Lessons / Workshops / Master Classes
  • Inspirational / Educational talks & events
  • Rock School (weeklong activities in school holidays)
  • Event days / Gigs
  • Recording sessions
  • Education support activities & workshops

The Gateway Academy : Schools Programme

MAP has been providing music lessons, workshops, master classes, recording sessions and educational support classes for the last 5 years and have created a succesful approach to music education which when combined with our unique environment consisting of a live lounge (for performances and rehearsals), a fully fitted out recording studio and sound engineering booth provides everything required to enhance your schools music provision and at the same time excite, motivate and encourage students.

Core Programme

  • Curriculum support
    We provide specialised music lessons, workshops and examinations (Rock School certifications) to support in school music provision.
  • Unique performance opportunities
    MAP provides support for unique music performances based on individual school requirements.
  • After school clubs
    MAP provides qualified, DBS approved music tutors to run specialised after school music lessons, workshops and Rock School events.
  • School visits
    MAP has a fully fitted out professional recording studio, Live Lounge performance room with video capture throughout. We can accommodate half and full day school visits with optional recording sessions.
  • School events
    MAP provides focused training and mentoring for students putting on individual school events/performances either as part of an existing event (e.g. Prom band) or as a one off concert.

Our aim is to provide opportunities for the local community to participate in the arts, and to offer employment and training opportunities for young people studying in the arts. Through this, we hope that members of the community will engage with their social skills and meet with others to enhance their creative experience.
